The Messy Midlife: When You Realise It’s Time to Choose You
Midlife isn’t what we were told it would be.
Somewhere between raising kids, managing a household, building a career, and doing everything we thought we should, we’ve lost something. Ourselves.
And then menopause hits.
The body changes. The mind fogs. The energy shifts. Suddenly, you feel unrecognisable in your own skin. The things that once brought you purpose now feel… empty. The kids need you less, the roles you once played no longer fit, and you’re left wondering—who am I now?
Is this it?
That whisper in the back of your mind grows louder: Surely there’s more to life than this?
For years, you’ve been everything to everyone, mother, partner, professional, caregiver, friend. You’ve poured yourself into others, often at the expense of your own needs. And now, with space opening up, you feel… lost even suffocated by the feeling that this cant be it.
You’re stuck in a career that once made sense but no longer fulfills you. You’re full of ideas but have no idea how to bring them to life. You’ve spent so long following the script of what you should do that you have no idea what you want anymore. Conditioned to be a good wife, mother and work the 9-5 when if you were completely honest you feel like someone has smothered what once was a vibrant soul.
And one day, it hits you—it’s time for something more.
The Midlife Wake-Up Call
One morning, while getting ready to drag myself through yet another unfulfilling day, I looked up at the mirror… and almost had to do a double take.
Who the fuck was that staring back at me?
Because it sure as hell wasn’t the me I recognised.
That was the moment I realised I was unrecognisable.
The messy midlife had hit me—hard.
I was tired. Overweight. Stuck in a cycle of just getting through the day. My life felt like a tragedy. All my hopes and dreams? They felt like they had passed me by.
I was a fat, forty-something menopausal woman failing at life.
I was leaning on alcohol to numb out. I was trying to be everything to everyone, a good wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and business owner.
But I wasn’t saying yes to me, I wasn't being true to myself and following my dreams just the dreams that a society had lead my to believe I wanted.
This was a huge wake up call for me and the catalyst that lead me to the person I am today and if I can do it you can too!
This Isn’t the End—It’s the Beginning
Sound familiar! This is where so many women find themselves. At the crossroads of who they were and who they’re meant to be.
And here’s the truth: The messy middle isn’t a crisis—it’s an initiation.
It’s a calling back to yourself. A shedding of old identities that no longer serve you. A chance to redefine life on your terms.
Because midlife isn’t the end of something—it’s the beginning.
It’s time for clarity and guidance. It’s time for YOU.
Are you ready to stop existing and start living? Let’s find the real you—the one who’s been buried under years of responsibilities, expectations, and “shoulds.”
Because your life isn’t over. It’s just getting started!
Every day presents a new opportunity for growth, discovery, and transformation. Although it may sometimes feel like you have reached a dead end or that circumstances have conspired against you, it is essential to recognise that these moments are merely stepping stones on the path to a brighter future.
The potential for change lies within you, waiting to be unleashed. Embrace the challenges that come your way, for they often serve as catalysts for personal development and resilience. Remember that every ending is simply a prelude to a new beginning, and with each sunrise, you are granted a fresh canvas upon which to paint your aspirations, dreams, and ambitions.
Take a deep breath and allow yourself to envision the possibilities that await you. Your journey is far from over; it is just beginning to unfold in ways you may not yet fully comprehend.
If you are ready to start your midlife awakening I can help you! Not only do I have the skills to help you I have lived this myself I know how it feels and I want to help you!
